If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better to enter heaven with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands.

As he was starting out on a trip, a man came running up to Jesus, knelt down, and asked, "Good Teacher, what should I do to get eternal life?"

And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process?

Then he turned to his critics and asked, " Is it legal to do good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing harm? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?" But they wouldn't answer him.

If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life.

One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: "Teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life?"

"If you want to be my follower you must love me more than your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, more than your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said, " God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is given to you.

Then he said, " Beware! Don't be greedy for what you don't have. Real life is not measured by how much we own."

Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: "Good teacher, what should I do to get eternal life?"
