That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife, and they become one.

I have provided all kinds of grain and all kinds of fruit for you to eat;

I have chosen him in order that he may command his sons and his descendants to obey me and to do what is right and just. If they do, I will do everything for him that I have promised.”

Laban went on, “If you ill-treat my daughters or if you marry other women, even though I don't know about it, remember that God is watching us.

They will be as numerous as the specks of dust on the earth. They will extend their territory in all directions, and through you and your descendants I will bless all the nations.

“Respect your father and your mother, so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you.

Never forget these commands that I am giving you today.

If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshipped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve the Lord.”
